Why take part
There are plenty of opinions about AI, yet very few relating to Lincolnshire.
National surveys say little about places like ours. This study asks the businesses that actually make up our county: the builders and engineers, the farms and food producers, the practices, shops and family firms.
5 to 10 minutes
One question at a time, only the ones that apply to you. Built to work beautifully with a keyboard, a phone or a screen reader.
Private by design
Results are published only as combined figures. Your business is named only if you ask to be listed as a contributor.
Early access for you
Everyone who completes the survey gets the full report before it is released publicly.
What the survey asks about
Six things we want to understand
Together they show how aligned Lincolnshire businesses are with national trends, and where support would genuinely help. The survey closes on 31 December 2026, and the report follows in the first week of February 2027.
Awareness
How well businesses understand what AI can do for firms like theirs.
Current use
Whether AI is in use at all, and if so, in which parts of the business.
Barriers
The single biggest thing holding businesses back, and how confident teams feel about skills.
Priorities
The outcomes that would matter most, and how high AI sits on the agenda for the next year.
Support
The kind of outside help that would genuinely be useful, if any.
Your own words
The one thing that would make AI genuinely useful to your business next year.

Questions
Questions and answers
What is Lincolnshire.AI?
Lincolnshire.AI is a Lincoln-based organisation that helps businesses across Greater Lincolnshire use artificial intelligence in practical, responsible ways. Its first project is an independent study of how the county's businesses are adopting AI.
What is The State of AI for Lincolnshire Business 2027?
The State of AI for Lincolnshire Business 2027 is an independent report, run by Lincolnshire.AI, on how businesses across Greater Lincolnshire are engaging with AI: where they are today, what is holding them back and where the opportunities lie. It is based on a short survey that closes on 31 December 2026.
Who can take part in the survey?
Any small or medium-sized business in Lincolnshire can take part, whether it uses AI every day or not at all. Our main focus is businesses with 10 to 150 paid employees, but we will not turn anyone away.
How long does the survey take?
5 to 10 minutes. There are up to 17 short questions. The first five are required and you can skip any of the rest.
When will the report be published?
The survey closes on 31 December 2026. The report is sent to everyone who took part in the first week of February 2027, before it is released publicly.
Is the survey a sales pitch?
No. It is research, and there is no hard sell. A few optional questions ask what kind of help would be useful, and the last one asks whether you would like to hear from us. Say no and you will not.
Will my answers be kept private?
Yes. Results are published only as combined figures. Your business is named only if you choose to be listed as a contributor, and even then your answers are never shown.
Which areas count as Greater Lincolnshire?
Greater Lincolnshire covers the City of Lincoln, Boston, East Lindsey, North Kesteven, South Holland, South Kesteven and West Lindsey, plus North Lincolnshire and North East Lincolnshire.
